Wearing It!

My friend Jardima recently paid me a wonderful compliment regarding my style. She said she used to love seeing what I was wearing to our office each day; especially since we could get away with being dressed very casually in our former work environment and most staff did just that. Her observation about those days gone by caused me to reflect on something that has long been true for me.

I tend to "dress" no matter what my environment. I believe in wearing the clothing and jewelry I "collect." My treasures are of little value to me in my closet because I get no enjoyment out of having my things, I enjoy using them. Of course, I tailor my outfit to the weather and my scheduled activities for the day; that way I'm comfortable and not wearing an evening gown to the office, or leather pants and stilettos to the beach. But, within limits, I do tend to be more dressed up than many of the folks I encounter. In part, this contrast is due to my philosophy on "wearing it," but I also think it has to do with the places I choose to live and work. I'd probably look pretty country in New York city!

How about you--do you have a closet full of items you are saving for just the proper occasion? Select one item you don't normally wear and upgrade your look with it one day (or evening) and please let me know about your experience.

Go ahead y'all and start wearing it!
