On Adapting My Style

I am a huge Project Runway fan. I like being fashionable and have a large wardrobe that ranges from designer to funky. I love consignment and thrift shops, boutiques and discount stores, Nordstrom and online specialty retailers, well, you get the picture--I enjoy shopping and can find treasures just about anywhere. I like to put unusual items, colors and textures together to create my own style. I can also sew and design, but haven't in quite some time.
Lately, I'm having to reassess my entire wardrobe. My fabulous Seattle garb is not cutting it here in Florida; the climate and design aesthetic are entirely different. Plus my lifestyle has become very relaxed and casual in comparison to my urban life in Seattle. I'm still working on how to look cool, calm and professional in 95 degree heat. Starting over is sort of fun and sort of daunting. In the course of the next few months I'll be selling many of my things in my online ebay store--The Ark--and also giving items to charity thrift stores. I gave away half of my wardrobe before I left Seattle. Now it's time for the rest.
The weirdest thing about this situation is that I have been grieving over the prospect of getting rid of these items that I've collected over the years, and so I've been procrastinating. It feels strange to be so attached to them. Do you think there's some sort of deeper meaning there? Whatever. I'm getting started this week.
We'll talk more later.
